Question
I am trying to make sense of the following equation:Mag. Flux = B*A*Cosine (theta)
My book explains that (theta) is the angle between the field and the normal to the area....So why is it that when the field and the area are perpendicular the equation reduces to
Mag. Flux = B*A
This is saying that Cosine (90deg or 270deg) = 1 which is not true......How is perpendicular now equal to 0deg or 180deg
Also could you explain how to find the direction of magnetic fields and currents using the right hand rule...
Explanation / Answer
when the field and the area are perpendicular, the field and the NORMAL to the area is parallel, so theta = 0, cos(theta) = 1
