In this experiment, diffusion of different dyes in agar at different temperatures have been recorded. Based on the observation table, answers to the questions are as follows":

Answer 1: Dyes spread through agar through the process of diffusion. The molecules of dye in the agar have some molecular weight and they experience motion doe to their the heat in the medium. Because of this, the molecules tend to move from its higher concentration to its lower concentration and thus get spread into the plate.

Answer 2: According to the observation table, at room temperatue, Potassium permangnate diffused faster, as it has moved 10.2 mm in 1 hour.

Answer 3: At colder temperature also, potassium permangnate hasmoved faster, as it has diffused to 8.3 mm in one hour.

Answer 4: The smaller molecular size solute will be Potassium permangnate, beacuse size of the molecule is inversely proportional to the diffusion rate, which means that molecule which is smaller in size will move faster and heavy molecules will move comparitively slower. So the data shows that potassium permanganate has more diffusion rate , so it must have been having low or smaller molecular weight.

Answer 5: Yes, there is an effect of temperatue on rate of diffusion. As we can see from the data given that, one molecule has comparitively high diffusion rate at room temperature as that with cold temperature. This is because the heat energy experienced by the molecule is more at room temperature, giving it a higher mobility as compared to cold temperature. So, congo red as well as potassium permangnate, both have high diffusion rate at room temperature and low diffusion rate at cold temperature.
