Consider a series RC circuit with R = 171 ? and an unknown capacitor C as shown above. The circuit is driven by an alternating electromotive force with ?RMS = 142 V at a frequency of f = 6.30 Hz. The current in the circuit is IRMS = 0.370 A. Calculate the capacitance C. Please show all work! I will rate very well! Thanks!Explanation / Answer
impedence of the circuit z= (R^2 + (1/C)^2 )
f=6.3 then =2f=39.564 rad/sec
hence current i=e/z we get z=142/.370=383.7837
hence R^2 +(1/C)^2 =147289.9927
but R=171 so (1/39.564C)^2 = 118048.9927
we get C=capacitance=7.3564 *10^(-5)
