Question
4. Scientists are interested in the following hypothesis: Exposure to bacteria and waste products present in and on farm and pet animals in early childhood reduces the risk of the child developing asthma or severe allergies. Describe a prediction of this hypothesis 5. Define "double blind" in the context of an experiment. 6. Describe how you could experimentally test the hypothesis that ingesting the herb Ginkyo bilobs improves memory. Be sure to in- clude a description of the experimental control. of 7. A relatively small group of individuals that is meant to be representative of a larger population is termed a that population. 8. A statistically significant difference between two samples is defined as one that has a chance or less of occurring if the populations the two samples came from are not different.Explanation / Answer
4. It has been observed by the scientists on other instances , that the children when exposed to pet animals at early time can have different microbes present on their body, They have also found to be have increased immunity. So it can be hypothesized that if childrens are exposed to waste products from the pet animals, it could help to increase the immunity against the childhood asthma.
5. 'Double blind ' approach is used in any experiment to reduce the bias from the experiment. For e.g in double blind experiment, the researcher or the participants nobody knows in which group is control or which group is experimental. The results obtained from such approach will reduce the biasness from the experimantal observation.
6. To test the hypothesize whether Ginkgo biloba will increase the memory or not, lets take two groups of senior. One groups who has dementia or Alzheimer's and the second group will be healthy. Both the group who is receiving Ginkgo biloba will be tested for parameters like attention, memory, language or visual coordination. Both these groups will be tested over a period of time and then it will be examined whether there is any improvement or decline in memory or not.
