Answer -'
Foods which are having less of fibre like meat , snacks containg lots of fats , high sodium foods such as refined or processed fast foods should be limited .
Specifically what foods/nutrients are beneficial and why?
Foods like fruits and vegetables are benefial since they are high in vitamins and minerals and dietary fibres .
Foods containing whole grains such as brown rice and barley has lot of dietary fibres in them and good for heart health.
Diet rich in folic acid prevent hardening of arterial walls which is common cause of cardiovascular disease.
Omega 3 fatty acids reduce heart rate and lower blood pressure and also improve the health of the blood vessels .
Diet rich in trans fats should be avoided and oils like olive oil, canola oil which contain monounsatunsaturated oils and nuts which contain polyunsaturated fats should be included in the diet . This will help to decrease blood cholesterols levels in the blood .
Eating saturated fats increase bad cholesterol (LDL) in the blood which is responsible for causing heart attack .
