Lastly, the gourmet blend contains 200g French beans, 100g of the Columbian, 200g of the Kenyan and 100g of the Ethiopian beans.

The merchant has on hand 18 kg of French beans, 16 kg of Columbian beans, 12 kg of Keyan beans and 5 kg of Ethiopian beans.

The merchant wises to determine how many bags of each blend to make up in order to use up all of the beans. Create a set of linear equations and solve.

Explanation / Answer

Number of og value = x Number of house blend = y Number of special blend = z Number of gourmet blend = w 300 x + 200 y + 100 z + 200 w = 18000 300 x + 300 y + 200 z + 100 w = 16000 100 y + 200 z + 200 w = 12000 100 w + 100 z = 5000 Solving we get x = 15 y = 20 z = 5 w = 45
