Question

1. Outline the various types of evidence for biological evolution, supporting you answer with specific examples.

2. Clearly and formally outline the logic of the process of natural selection. Frame your answer in general terms applicable to any species (rather than in the style of a "parable" as in "Fast rabbits evolved because..."). Think about the logic of the proces as expressed by Darwin in On the Origin of Species and be sure to give example of ecological factors that are important in the "struggle for existence".

3. Name and describe the evolutionary process that results in anlogies, providing real examples of analogous structures to support your answer.

Explanation / Answer

1. There are a no. Of evidences in favour of evolution -

A. Paleontology :- it is study of fossils. Fossils are the remains of the organisms. By studying the gradual advancement in fossil structure is important evidence in favour of evolution. Example are evolution of horse, amphibians etc.

B.Morphology and anatomical study:- study of internal and outer structure also provide important evidence such as homologous and analogous organs. These study shows gradual evolution in structures.

C. Evidence from embryology :- embryos in initial stages are similar and shows that organism shows basic similarities in embryological structures.
