If there are just 2 alleles, A and B for a particular trait and conditions for Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium are met, then the frequency of the traits will be calculated according to the following formula :

p+q = 1, or p2 + q2 + 2pq = 1

where,

As given in the question, frquency of allele A = 0.8, i.e., p=0.8

Therefore, frequency of allele B will be equal to q, i.e., 1-p = 1-0.8 = 0.2

Hence frequency of heterozygotes if the equillibrium conditions for Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium are satisfied will be equal to 2pq = 2 x 0.8 x 0.2 = 0.32
