Question 10 Net yet answered Marked out of 1,00 Flag question In a separate study, 76 rock pocket mice were collected from four different, widely separated areas of dark lava rock. One collecting site was in Arizona. The other three were in New Mexico. Dr. Nachman and colleagues observed no significant differences in the color of the rocks in the four locations sampled. However, the dark-colored mice from the three New Mexico locations were slightly darker than the dark-colored mice from the Arizona population. The entire Mc1r gene was sequenced in all 76 of the mice collected The mutations responsible for the dark fur color in the Arizona mice were absent from the three different populations of New Mexico mice. No Mc1rmutations were associated dark coloration has occurred at least twice in the rock pocket mouse and that these the concept that natural selection is not random? with dark fur color in the New Mexico populations. These findings suggest that adaptive similar phenotypic changes have different genetic bases. How does this study support ee

Explanation / Answer

Biological evolution mention as the accumulative changes that arise in a population over time. These changes that occurs at the genetic level of an organisms, these mutation in genes recombine in various methods during reproduction and are transfer to future generations. Frequency of advantageous mutations are increases and disadvantageous mutation is decreases. Natural selection is the process in which a well adapted individual from a population to a specific environmental conditions are advantageous over those who are not so well adapted. The advantage means survival as well as reproductive success.  The  natural selection acts on genetic variation may occur randomly, but natural selection as such is not random at all. An individual's survival and reproductive success is directly related to the ways of the function of inherited traits in situation of its local environment. Survival and reproduction of an individual depends on whether their trait producing genes are well adapted to its environment or not.
