Question

can u please show the formulas and the work with the numbers?

16. An object of mass 3 kg starts from rest and moves along the x-axis. A net horizontal force is applied to the object in +x direction. The force time relations presented by the graph. What is the net impulse delivered by this force?

17. An object of mass 3 kg starts from rest and moves along the x-axis. A net horizontal force is applied to the object in +x direction. The force time relations presented by the graph. What is the net work done on the object?

Explanation / Answer

Impulse = Area of the Graph

= (6*4) + 0.5*2*6

= 30 Nsec

For First 4 sec

Acceleration = 6/3

= 2 m/sec^2

S = 0.5*2*4^2

= 16 m

So work Done = 6*16

= 96 J

After that

Average force = (6-0)/2

= 3 N

Acceleration = 1 m/sec^2

S = 0.5*1*2^2

= 2 m

Theefore

Work = 3*2

= 6 J

Total Work = 96+6

= 102 J
