Explanation / Answer

answer 1- the population is under disruptive selection, in which genes with extreme effects to either end are selected over stabilized genes for better adaption. graph peaks move towards extreme limits.

answer 2- this is an example of stabilizing selection in which most stabilized trait is selected over extreme traits and peaks are shifted towards the center or median value. birth weight is an example of stabilizing selection in humans. small babies can lose energy easily in form of heat whereas, large sized babies can create complications in pregnancy thus medium sized babies are selected.

answer 3- this is an example of directional selection in which one particular trait is selected over others in one direction, peak shifts towards either end. birds which can survive without water or require less water for growth got selected. another example is peppered moth during the industrial revolution.
