Question
A uniform 0.20 T magnetic field is perpendicular to the page rod and down into the arrangement sketched above.
This is two horizontal metal bars in the plane of the page that are 0.060 m apart with a 0.080 m
long copper rod laid across the bars. A sensitive current detecting device is represented by the
circle to the left of the bars.
When the rod is 0.075 m to the right of the left side of this rectangle, the rod is moving to the right
at 0.5m/s. The electrical resistance of the detecting device and the rest of the conductors in this
circuit is now 0.40 ohm. The power dissipated in this circuit is:
Ans:decreasing because the resistance in the circuit increases.
Please show work on how to determine this answer.
Explanation / Answer
so as the loop gets bigger there is more metal the current is passing through so more resistance emf is constant = BLv so P =V^2/R bigger R means less power
