Question
hello, can you please show me the steps and the numbers so i can figure out how you got the answer? I am not understanding when people write formulas and say "solve for...' or else i wouldn't post the question. Thank you. Work on two blocks 2 A mass m1 = 5.7 kg rests on a frictionless table and connected by a massless string to another mass m2 = 3.9 kg. A force of magnitude F = 37.0 N pulls m1 to the left a distance d = 0.77 m. the work is done by the force F on the two block system is 28.49 J and how work done by the normal force on m1 and m2 is 0 J . 3) What is the final speed of the two blocks in m/s and how much work is done by the tension (in-between the blocks) on block m2?Explanation / Answer
By KE equation:
0.5*m*V^2 = 28.49
0.5*(5.7+3.9)*V^2 =28.49
V = 2.436 m/s
Speed of both block is 2.436 m/s
Work done by tension = 0.5*3.9*2.436^2 = 11.574 J
