Question
In the lap we were recording how long it would take for a stopper going at constant velocity to go around ten times using differnt amounts of weight haning from the other end of the string. we were asked to find the mass of the stopper by finding the slope of the grahp M/L vs. frequency^2. then set that slope equal to 4pi^2m over g and slove for m. i cant get that equation to work? it that the right equation
Explanation / Answer
velocity=2*pi*r*f and M*g=m*v^2/r ===> M*g=m*4*pi^2*r*f^2 So mass of stopper (4*pi^2*m/g)*f^2=(M/r) So it is the right equation Calculate the slope and equate it to (4*pi^2*m/g)
