Two identical masses are released from rest in a smooth hemispherical bowl of radius , from the positions shown in the figure (Figure 1) . You can ignore friction between the masses and the surface of the bowl.If they stick together when they collide, how high above the bottom of the bowl will the masses go after colliding?
However, the answer i Received was h=R/2.
The answer needs to be written in terms of y=? R.
I submitted 1/2 R but that was wrong so i looked online for other solutions and i got h=R/4 and -R/2(which actually does not make sense since distance in this case cannot be negative.) How do i write this answer in terms of 'R'?
