Please answer the oowngquestions bas 1 What is the genotype of 11-17 2 what is the genotype of -2 3. Which rule would you used to calculate the probability that it-1's and al2s next child will be a boy AND haw Calulate the probability that -1's and 2 next child wilt be a boy AND have cystic fnibrosis 5 Using the binomial expansion equation calculate the probability that 2 out of the next 3 children for lil-1 and receive full cred. please ndate the answer aswell asx.n-x,p.and Binomial exparsion equation 0 96 0

Explanation / Answer

Cystic fibrosis (CF) is an autosomal disorder, a child will have cystic fibrosis if two CF genes are inherited one from mother and another from father, A person who has only one CF gene is healthy and called as a carrier.

In the above question from the pedigree chart, in Generation-I , one parent is affected and the other is a carrier because in Generation-II they have four children among whom 2 are affected and 2 are carrier .

In Generation -II when an affected individual gets married to another individual , they had in Generation-III four children two are affected and tw are carrier.so in Generation-II the mother is a carrier.

In Generation-III when an affected male got married to an carrier female they gave rise to 3 individuals among them one is affected and the other two are carriers.

Q 1 ) What is the genotype of III -1 ?

Answer:- III-1 , would be Tt ,as in Generation-IV one of the children of III-1 and III-2 is affected so mother is a carrier that is (III-1).

Q 2) What is the genotype of III-2 ?

Answer:- It would be tt , Homozygous recessive , as the individual is an affected male .

Q3) The product rule is used to calculate the probability of III-1 and III-2 s next child will be a boy and have cystic fibrosis.

Explanation:- The product rule. According to this rule the probability of two (or more) independent events occurring together ,can be calculated by multiplying the individual probabilities of the events.here in question it is asked probability of the child is a boy and having cyctic fibrosis.

Q4)calculate the probability that III-1 & III-2 next child will be a boy and have cystic fibrosis .

Here III-1 is Tt and III-2 is tt seeing it in the punnet square below

From the above table it is seen that two children will be carriers and two will be affected by the trait.

so the child will have 50% chance of having cystic fibrosis.in Generation IV - female is already affected so male has 50% chance of having CF.
