This would be indicative of a meningococcal infection (cocci in meninges). A gram negative diplococcus capable of this is Nesserria meningococcus. During its infection it is detected in serebrosinal fluid, in blood (in case of septicaemia) and are sometimes detected inside WBCs as well. T he number of WBCs naturally shoot u in response to the infection.
