Question

A 550KG car travelling at 24m/s (east) is involved in a head on collision with a 725 kg pickup truck. both come to a complete stop on impact.
A) what is the momentum of the car before collision
B)What is the change in the car's momentum?
C) What is the truck's impulse?
What is the veolcity of the truck before the collision?
E) What happened to all the kinetic energy that was present before the collision?
I'm prety sure i did these all right so im just looking for the answers so i can compare with someone to see if i did it right. (no need to show work)
Thanks a lot in advance and i really apreciate it!

Explanation / Answer

A) momentum of car before collision =550*24

=13200 Kgm/s

B) final momentum of car =0

change =|final- initial| = 13200 Kgm/s

C) applying momentum conservation

550*24 -v*725=0

v=18.20m/s (west)

trucks impulse =change in momentum=13200 Kgm/s

E) all the kinetic energy is lost in heat generation
