Question
4. The PBMC CD2+ monocytes (Mo) were found to express other surface markers found on DC (like HLA/MHC proteins), and activate adaptive immune T cells when stimulated with a virus (HIV, data not shown), like DC are known to do C CD2+ Mo from PBMC D CD2- Mo from PBMC Morphologically, although similar in size, the CD2+ monocytes and CD2- monocytes also appear different (scanning electron microscopy, C,D; light microscopy E,F). CD2+ Mo have longer cell projections ("tendrils") that are typical of dendritic cells. (1) What cellular proteins might make up the cytoskeleton of these projections? What might be their function of the projections? E CD2+ Moin culture F CD2- Mo in culture o)Explanation / Answer
Cellular protein that make up the cytoskeleton of projection in CD+2 monocytes is the dendritic nuclear protein which is represented by the monocyte. In case of CD-2 it represents those cell which later gives rise to macrophages.
The function of their projection is to act as a precursor of macrophage and it is the potent stimulator of the naive CD4 T cells. The another function of dendritic cell is to process the antigen material and to present it on the cell surface to the T cells of immune system
