Current Through Three Equal Resistors 4 Timer Due in 7 hours, 18 minute In the aircuit diagram below, the three resistors have different resistance with the value for each resistor given below. The wires connecting the battery and resistors have negliglible resistance. R1 R3 R2 Wh t es then curent flbowing throu/2h.8 and R2-25.0 0. The battery supplis 10.0 v. Assume that the battery has no intemal resitance What is the current following through R1? Submit Answer Tries 0/10 What is the current following through R3? Explanation / Answer

1.

Remember in resistors parallel combination voltage distribution in each part will be same and in series combination current distribution in each resistor will be same.

Since R1, R2 and R3 are in parallel So voltage through each resistor would be equal to Voltage across battery, So

V1 = V2 = V3 = 10.0 V

Now Using Ohm's law

V= i*R

i1 = V1/R1

i1 = 10/15 = 0.67 Amp

2.

i3 = V3/R3 = 10/20

i3 = 0.5 Amp

3.

i2 = V2/R2 = 10/25

i2 = 0.4 Amp

4.

Total current flowing out of battery wil be

i = i1 + i2 + i3

i = 0.67 + 0.5 + 0.4 = 1.57 Amp

5.

Voltage across each resistor would be same and equal to toal voltage, So

Voltage across R2 = 10.0 V
