In terms of mass and radius of earth, g is given by:

g = GMe/Re^2

G = Graviatational Constant = 6.67*10^-11

when Re is Constant, then g is directly proportional to Me

So If mass of earth is change then

g2/g1 = Me2/Me1

given that

Me2 = 2*Me1

So,

g2/g1 = 2*Me1/Me1

g2/g1 = 2

g2 = 2*g1

So gravitational acceleration would be doubled. (2 times)

Correct option is D.

Part B.

when Me is constant, we can see that g is inversely proportional to square of radius of earth, So

g2/g1 = (Re1/Re2)^2

Given that

Re2 = 2*Re1

g2/g1 = (Re1/(2*Re1))^2

g2/g1 = (1/2)^2

g2/g1 = 1/4

g2 = (1/4)*g1

So new gravitational acceleration will be one-fourth go initial. (1/4 times)
