This is a very simple problem of kinematics. To solve the problem, first you have to determine the value of acceleration and for this convert the unit of velocity into meter per sec.
So, 60 mile per hour = 60 x 0.447 m/s = 26.8 m/s
and, 100 mile per hour = 100 x 0.447 m/s = 44.7 m/s
(a) Use the expression -
v = u + a*t
where, u = initial velocity = 0 (in our case)
t = 10.0 s (given)
v = 26.8 m/s
so we have -
26.8 = 0 + a*10.0
=> a = 26.8 / 10 = 2.68 m/s^2
Now, suppose time taken by the Ferrari to reach a velocity of 100 mile per hour (44.7 m/s) is T.
put the values in the above expression like previous -
44.7 = 0 + 2.68*T
=> T = 44.7 / 2.68 = 16.7 s (Answer)
(b) Suppose distance travelled by the Ferrari is S meter during this.
So use the expression -
v^2 = u^2 + 2*a*S
=> 44.7^2 = 0 + 2*2.68*S
=> S = 44.7^2 / (2*2.68) = 372.8 meter (Answer).
