The current per unit horizontal length has magnitude 23.9A cm The X's in the sketch show that the current is in the direction into the page. However, while the "X's in the sketch are discrete, the current distribution may be considered as continuous. The slab is so wide that edge efrects may be ignored, and this question only concems points far from the edges. Part 1) What is the direction of the magnetic field 1. Just above the conductor? Right 2. Just below the conductor? Left 3. In the middle of the conductor? Near zero Part 2) The current per unit length (current into the page per displacement in the horizontal direction) is k magnitude of the magnetic field just above the conducting slab? 23.9 amperes per centimetre [NB: current per unit length, not current density].
