Question
6 points) Electric Force Principle of Superposition and Vector I would recommend beginning this problem by comparing C and B, and A and D. Note thak the problem by comparing C and B, and A and D. Note that t charge distribution in D is meant to be a semicircle with the center at the location of the charge +g ET3-RT6: CHARGED RODS AND POINT CHARGES-FORCE In each case A-D, a point charge +q is fixed in place as well as some --x + +20 other point charges or charged rods. The charged insulating rod in case A has a length x and a charge +20 distributed uniformly along it. The charged insulating rod in case D is an arc of radius y, and has a charge +20 distributed uniformly along it. Rank the magnitude of the electric force on +q due to the other charges in each case. . ' +2Q 9+20 Greatest 1234Least OR, the electric force on +q is the same for all four cases. OR, the ranking for the electric force on +q cannot be determined. tq Carefully explain your reasoning.Explanation / Answer
By comparing B and D, A and C understood that:
1.charge of B is +Q+Q=2Q which is same as D.
2.Since B is an isosceles triangle side is eaual to height which is quiet similar to diameter of arc of D.
3.The angles of B and D are also same.
So, on account of above three point the electric force on +q is same for both B and D.
4.A and C charge is same
5.Height is same
Since the topic is only about magnitude but not the angles, so the electric force on A and C are also same.
Since A is as much as similar to B
The electric force on +q is same in all four cases.
