Question

I don't understand question 2

This pre-lab is worth 5 points. Each problem is worth 1 point. 1) Method 1 I uses equation [6], conservation of energy, to determine the initial velocity of the pendulum-ball, v, where m is the mass of the pendulum-ball and h is height it rose to from rest. Using equation [6], solve for v 2) Equation [3], conservation of momentum, is used to find the initial velocity of the ball, v The velocity of the pendulum-ball, Vi, is taken from the velocity v found in question L. The pendulum, mp, is initially at rest, and m, is the mass of the ball. Using equation [3], determine an equation to solve for the velocity of the ball, Vb, in terms of mp, mp and v

Explanation / Answer

Accoridng to the given problem,

Using coservation of linear momentum,

Initial momentum of the ball +pendulum = Final momentum of the ball + pendulum

mb*vb = (mb+mp)*vf [=2*g*h 1st answerand ]

vb = [(mb+mp)*vf]/mb.

I hope you understood the problem, If yes rate me!! or else comment for a better solution.
