Explanation / Answer

C. The polyp body can produce both ovaries and testies that make eggs and sperms respectively.

This occurs when conditions are unfavourable. The testis release the sperm that swims and fertilizes the egg in the ovary. Upon death of the adult these fertilized eggs, which are now coated with a strong substance for protection, settle down to the ground and develop into an adult when conditions become favourable again. Some species are hermaphrodites as well.

Polyp and medusa are two different forms of the adult hydra. The former being sessile while the latter is motile. The process is called alternation of generation which is different from reproduction.
