Question
1. Two resistors, 50.8 and 77.8, are connected in parallel. The current through the 77.8- resistor is 2.33A. (a) Determine the current in the other resistor. (b) What is the total power supplied to the two resistors?
2.Two resistors have resistances R(smaller) and R(larger), where R(smaller) < R(larger). When the resistors are connected in series to a 12.0-V battery, the current from the battery is 1.97 A. When the resistors are connected in parallel to the battery, the total current from the battery is 10.7 A. Determine the two resistances.
Explanation / Answer
Q1.
Since they are in parallel the voltages are the same
v=77.8*2.33
a) I=(77.8*2.33)/50.8 A
= 3.57 A
b) The power is V*I
since V=I*R power =I^2*R
the total power is
P=2.33^2*77.8+3.5683^2*50.8
= 1069.2 W
Pls post the other question separately. Thank you.
