Among all the non destructive testing methods to find weld defects, ultra sonicctesting vmcan be used to find all the above mentioned defects.

It utilises sound waves of ultrasonic frequency. This energy waves transmit through the specimen without energy loss, except at discontinuities or flaws. This uses a transducer and vibration is coupled to weldmen through a liquid applied over it. The velocity of sound is constant in a medium. If flaws or crack is detected, its details can be understood from reflecting amplitude. This method can be used to effectively fond the location of discontinuities.

In addition to ultrasonic testing, radiographic testing where 'rays are used for detection can also be used. Butvultrasonic testing is easy to be carried out.
