In what direction must the pilot head the plane so that the airplane can land safely? Find the net velocity of the plane too Q8. During the First World War, suppose the warship (on the left) was firing shells to a high-speed destroyer (on the right) that was 560 m away, with an initial velocity of 86 m/s. The launching angle is 60° to the horizontal. Ignore the width/length of both ships as well the air friction. Find the range of the landed shells. Is the destroyer within the shells' range?

Net velocity

V= Va+ Vw= 80 i + 888.564 j

Magnitude of final velocity
