Question
4. One body of mass m1 2.018 kg is launched vertically with an initial velocity v1 5 m/s. The body will reach the maximum height h after a period of time th. A second body of mass m2-1.776 kg is launched at a 30 angle (as shown in the figure below) with an initial velocity v2-10 m/s. The second body will reach the maximum height h2 after a period of time t2. (g- 9.80 m/s) a. Determine the maximum height for each of the bodies (h and h2). b. Determine the ratio between hi and h2 (h/ h2). c. Determine t2 /ty ratio. Neglect air friction and explain your answers. h1 v1 5 m/s 0 30 h2Explanation / Answer
a)
h1 = v1^2/(2*g)
= 5^2/(2*9.8)
= 1.28 m
h2 = (v2*sin(theta))^2/(2*g)
= (10*sin(30))^2/(2*9.8)
= 1.28 m
b) h1/h2 = 1.28/1.28
= 1
c) t1 = 2*v1/g
= 2*5/9.8
= 1.02 s
t2 = 2*v2*sin(theta)/g
= 2*10*sin(30)/9.8
= 1.02 s
t2/t1 = 1.02/1.02
= 1
