Question
Question 5 (17 marks) A coil is wrapped with 300 turns of wire on the perimeter of a circular frame (of radius 80 cm) Each turn has the same area, equal to that of the frame. The total resistance of the coil is 36 2. A uniform magnetic field B is directed out of the page and perpendicular to the plane of the coil which is in the page. This field changes at a constant rate from 20 mT to 50 mT in 20 ms. (0) What is the magnitude of the induced emf in the coil at the instant the magnetic field has a (6 marks) magnitude of 35 mT? dt At (300) (80 cm) 50 mT)-(20 mT) 20 ms -904.779 V 904.779 v Find the induced current in the coil and give its direction (clockwise or anti-clockwise) 6 marks) 904.779 R 36 -25, 13 A Clockwise
Explanation / Answer
Since Magnetic Field is directed out of the page, and it is increasing with time, the induced current should be such that it should be able to decrease this magnetic field, which is possible by inducing a magnetic Field which is directed into the page. That means, to create inward magnetic Field, Induced current should be Clockwise.( As per Right hand rule)
