Question

Problem 2 Circuit shown below has resistance of 100 ohms, a sliding bar is moving w Applied magnetic field is 1 T and length of bar is 0.7 m. Find th speed of 10 m/sec (a) the induced voltage (emf) in the bar (right hand rule). Label the positive and negative terminals on the bar (b) Induced current in the loop. Draw direction of current flow in the circuit (c) Resultant magnetic force exerted on the bar (right hand rule), namely force necessary to allow the rod to continue to move at 10m/sec. (d) Power required continuing to move the bar with 10 m/sec. e) Power consumed by the bulb (f) Energy consumed by the bulb in 60seconds (g) direction in which magnetic field 8 is induced such as Lens law is satisfied

Explanation / Answer

1. Emf induced, e= BLv= 1*0.7*10= 7V

2.i=e/R= 7/100= 0.07 A

3. F= BiL= 1* 0.07* 0.7= 0.049 N

4. P=Fv= 0.049*10= 0.49 W

5. Pb= i*iR= 0.07^2*100= 0.49 W

6.E= Pb*t= 0.49* 60= 29.4 J

7. Magnetoc field induced in such a way that it opposes the direction ofmagnetic field in enclosed area. Corresponding Direction to this is inward to the loop.
