Question

A.Determine the force developed in the short link BD<?xml:namespace prefix = v />                 <?xml:namespace prefix = o />   . Take F 1   = 7kN  , F 2  = 3kN   . (Figure 2)

Express your answer to three significant figures and include the appropriate units. Assume a positive scalar for the link in tension and a negative scalar for the link in compression.

B. Determine the tension in the cord CE   . Take F 1   = 7kN   , F 2   = 3KN.

c Determine the tension in the cord CF  . Take F 1  = 7kN   , F 2 =3kN

d. Determine the components of the reaction of the ball-and-socket joint A  on the block. Take F 1=7kN,F2 = 3kN  .Find in kN, Ax,Ay,Az.

Explanation / Answer

this problem is purely based on balancing forcein x,y and z axis and balancing torques about a suitable point.

a)now we find a suitable point A about which torque has to be balanced.

so

Fbd*4=F2*3

which comes

Fbd=9/4=2.25

(because torques of Fce and F1 cancel each other and Fcf is 0 about A).

b)now assume reaction force at A is N1i+N2j+N3k now balance forces along x,y and z axis.

u will be able to easily find all the remaining part of the question.

Best of luck.
