Question

I ONLY NEED HELP WITH PART A, I don't understand how to solve for the temperature. A rigid container is filled with 3 kg of water. Initially the water is at 300 kPa and has internal energy of 1914.25 kJ/kg. Energy is added to the water (no energy escapes) until the water is all saturated vapor. Determine a) the final temperature, b) the final pressure, and c) the amount of energy required (in kJ) to complete this process. Sketch the process NEATLY and ACCURATELY on a T-V diagram, including saturation lines. Label points 1 and 2 (the initial and final states) on the diagram ANSWER FOR PART A: 147.9 degrees C

Explanation / Answer

Right Now I dont have data book. Please do the following steps.

AT P = 300 Kpa and u1 = 1914.25 Kj/Kg, look for enthalpy from steam table. let it be = h1

and find corresponding specific volume = v1

so total volume = m x v1

so, V = 3v1

Now at saturated vapor state, Volume remains constant as container is rigid.

so, V = 3 x vg

where vg = specifc volume of the vaopr

now you have vg

so after finding vg look into the steam tabel and see for the temp eratire for which vg is matched,

I dont have steam tbale right now. Else I would have helped.

pls rate. :)
