Thank you very much! :) An airplane is flying straight v= 18 ft/s^2, when it starts to climb along a circular path with a radius of curvature p = 1,900 ft. The airplane maintains v constant for about 30 seconds. Determine the acceleration of the airplane 25 seconds after the start of the climb and express the result in the Cartesian component system shown.Explanation / Answer
acceleration = v^2/r
= 18 ft/s]^2/1,900 ft
= 0.17052 ft/s^2
distance travellerd in 25 s on the curve path
= 25 x 18 = 450 ft
circumference = 2 x 3.14 x 1900 = 11932
11932 equivalent to 360 degrees
so 450 will be 360/11932 x 450 =13.577 degrees from vertical
so the direction of accelration will be 13.577 degrees from vertival
and acceleration due to gravity acts vertically downward
