A design factor of safety of nd = 2.5 is required for the rod and a factor of safety of nd = 4 is required for the pins. Determine required width (w) of the rod so that it will neither yield nor buckle, then determine the required diameter of the pins (assuming they arc in single shear and the yield shear stress is Sy/root 3 ).
