Question
A measurement is reported as 64.3 +/- 11.0 and the standard deviation is 5.6 what is the confidence interval for the measurement? And why?
A-50%
B-68%
C-90%
D-95%
E-none of the above.
I know the answer is C but why?
A surveryor uses a tape measure to find the Hi for a total station. If the measuremnt effects are neglected and a second surveyor confirms that surveyor used apporpriate techniques, and made no mistakes when the measuremnt was perforemed and recorded, what type of error is presented in the surveyor's data? And why did you choose this answer explain the choosing this answer?
A-Random error
B-systematic
C-User
D- all of the above
E- None of the above
Explanation / Answer
1)The coefficient of variation =standard deviation /mean*100
In this problem it is confidence interval which is coefficient of variation
Mean= {(64.3+11)+(64.3-11)}/2
= 64.3
Given standard deviation= 5.6
confidence interval= (5.6/64.3)*100
=87.09
2) option c
