Question
In a resistor configuration where there is 4 resistors of 8 ohms each, what would be the resistance in ohms from A - B? The resistors are diagonal from each other, while a is on the left, b is on top, c is on the right, and d is on the bottom of the circle.A) 6 B) 24 C) 16 D) 4.2 In a resistor configuration where there is 4 resistors of 8 ohms each, what would be the resistance in ohms from A - B? A) 6 B) 24 C) 16 D) 4.2
A) 6 B) 24 C) 16 D) 4.2
Explanation / Answer
from your given details, we can see that
resistor a and b are in series
also resistor c and d are in series
and resistor ab and cd are in parallel
Now in series circuit
Rs = R1 + R2
in parallel circuit
1/Rp = 1/R1 + 1/R2
Now
Rab = Ra + Rb = 8 + 8 = 16 ohm
Rcd = Rc + Rd = 8 + 8 = 16 ohm
Now,
1/Req = 1/Rab + 1/Rcd
Req = Rab*Rcd/(Rab + Rcd)
Req = 16*16/(16 + 16) = 8 ohm
My answer is not in the options, I think there should have been a diagram given.
maybe I am misinterprating the language as "what do you mean by diagonal from each other in a circle"
So if you have a diagram please attach it.
