Question
****Please answer all bullet points Prepare a systems engineering presentation (pptx slides) that includes the following elements: A brief problem statement for your system 2 slide) A System Definition Matrix A context diagram for your system A list of 15 system level requirements An IDEF0 model of your system (at least 3 levels) A system model including 3 of the following: Class Block definition diagram Activity Diagram State diagram Sequence diagram To draw the models, please use MS Visio, ArgoUML (free), or a clean and legible hand drawing (scanned)Explanation / Answer
The first step in the planning process involves the definition of program, project, or requirements. Although this may appear rather basic, every program is different and it is essential that system engineering requirements be tailored accordingly. Planning is initiated with the definition of program requirements and the subsequent development of a Program Management Plan (PMP). This, in turn, leads to the identification of system engineering requirements and the preparation of a detailed System Engineering Management Plan (SEMP). As system-level requirements are defined, the planning process leads to the identification of those activities that must be accomplished in order to provide a system configuration that will fulfill those requirements. Program requirements refer to the management approach and the steps to be followed in the procurement and/or acquisition of the system in response to a stated need, along with the identification of the resources required to fulfill this objective. A program structure should be established that will enable the design and development, production and/or construction, and delivery of the system to the consumer in a cost-effective manner. Program requirements includes the identification of program functions and detailed tasks, the development of an organizational structure, the development of a work breakdown structure (WBS), the preparation of program schedules and cost projections, the implementation of a program evaluation and control capability, and so on. This information, presented in the form of a program plan, provides the necessary day-to-day management guidance required in the realization of any technical objective. IDEF0 is a common modeling technique for the analysis, development, re-engineering, and integration of information systems; business processes; or software engineering analysis. Imagine a box surrounded by arrows. The position at which the arrow attaches to a box conveys the specific role of the interface. The controls enter the top of the box. The inputs, the data or objects acted upon by the operation, enter the box from the left. The outputs of the operation leave the right-hand side of the box. Mechanism arrows that provide supporting means for performing the function join (point up to) the bottom of the box. A system model is a representative model or prototype system, which is well beyond prototype demonstration in a the breadboard tested for level 5, is tested in a relevant environment. Represents a major step up in a technology’s demonstrated readiness. Examples include testing a prototype in a high fidelity laboratory environment or in a simulated operational environment.
