Question
How do I know which was the current is flowing in a multi-branch circuit. If I have two current sources and multiple branches and want to know just one branch... when I do the nodal analysis etc, how do I know which was the current is flowing to know whether to ADD or SUBTRACT the I0, I1, I2, I3, etc.An example is Question 3.8 basic Engineering Circuit Analysis. The top right portion there is an 8k ohm resistor, and the answer says the current is flowing from left to right however on first glance I would have expected it to go from right to left.
Explanation / Answer
You just pick a direction when you start the problem. If you get a negative value for that current, then current flows in the direction opposite of which you picked.
