Hi,

I am asked to write a research paper for my project. Basically, I have chosen the topic to be "The use of flint glass and fly ash on cement-based mortars", I'm 3 months into my project and just realised that the project has been done before. People have looked into using flint glass in cement mortars and proved that using flint glass (clear glass) at a particle size of 1.18mm is deleterious in terms of the expansion it will cause. They have also investigated into the topic further by putting in fly ash at 30% and they have found that this works best. I've really hit a dead end, and I need to find justification as to why MY project is different from all the other research out there.

Have you investigated the effect of particle size of more than 1.18 mm or even less than 1.18 mm. Or even how about trying out with nano sized particles. I hope that these results will be different from what have been earlier known. Also, if you can work out the possibility of using flit glass in Reinforced concrete and show some results. i hope this would make your project look different. Studying the effect of flit glass shape on its binding might give you a new direction. Differently shaped flit glass will have different packing in solid state and hence will result in different binding strength of cements. I believe that in research these things are common. You start something and later on find that it has been done.
