Question

I am looking for an EASY textbook/s (covered by Cramster) on the subjects of Statics and Strength of materials. I have an Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering obtained many years ago and am looking for problems to keep my mind engaged for the occasional contracting jobs that come my way. I can do the easy ones but when I tackle most problems in the Hibbler Static 11'th edition I get very frustrated because too soon I end up up looking for the Cramster solutions and sometimes I have a problem sorting out the answers. So as you can see my problem is unique and maybe there is no answer, so I'm thanking you in advance.
Nate

Explanation / Answer

Hibbeler is a poor text, though it is the most commonly used. He addresses the material in a very poor structure.
Personally I enjoyed: Statics and Strength of Materials for Architecture and Building Construction by Onouye

It has engaging illustrations and systematically lays out material, with an emphasis in architecture (which may benefit you since you are a contractor), but it goes deep enough to give a very solid engineering understanding. I think you'll like it.
