Question
a) design a 5-state sequencer chip and implement using JK flip flops, also test it using LogicWorks (independent of the automatic tester in part b)
state sequencer given: 27 --> 30 --> 15 --> 20 --> 26 --> 27
b) In an integrated circuit manufacturing plant, each chip is tested using an auto-test facility. In this part you have to test the 5-state sequencer implemented in part a using an automatic testing approach using LogicWorks. Implement your auto-test using 5 registers to hold your 5 sequence values (given in part a), needed fundamental gates (AND, OR, inverters), and a display. Use a counter to increment each time the correct sequence value has arrived. After 5 clock pulses the counter should display 5, on a single 7-segment LED.
Explanation / Answer
Number of flip-flops = 2000(n)Number of vectors = 500(n1)Number of cycles required foreach scan = n =2kNumber of cycles required foreach vector = 1Number of cycles required toscan out after each test = n =2kSo total number of cyclesrequired for each scan chain = 2k+ (2k+1) 500 =1002500Number of scan chains =20Also a sequence of 00110011...of length n+4 is required to test all possible transitions in theflip-flops . [I am adding this figure only once. But if thespecification requires flip-fliops
