Question
I have a design for a counter that counts from 000 to 999 on a LCD using a 555 timer to supply the signal CMOS ICs 4027 for the timing gate, 4029 Up/down counter, and 4543 for the LCD. However I am un-sure if the supplied Design counts?Â
Is this a Mod 6 counter?
Can somone examine the circuit and tell me if it will count from 000 to 999 with a leading zero?
Also can someone also tell me perferrably with a diagram how and where to wire in a Reset switch?
Where to wire in LEDs (2) to show max and min terms ?
Also where is the Phase A and B signal located in this circuit?
Thanks in advance.
Explanation / Answer
All the counters must be mode 10 up-counter , not mode 6.no it wont count , because u have given the same clock to all counter which will trigger all counters at the same time. and we required triggering 1st counter up to 9 then 2nd counter up to 9 then 3rd counter up to 9 in their increasing order of clock frequency, so we need to connect 1st counter to clock ,2nd counter's clock as 1st counters carry out and so on ...
i dont know what manner u have connected u have conneced the reset pins but reset must be trigger for 1001(ABCD) by connecting one reset terminal to its corresponding D terminal,
wire the LED to LCD to disply minimum and maximum terms with LCD enable as +ve edge of that D and the same falling edge of that D , +ve edge of D will give max count in LCD and _ve edge will give min count in that LED , Simply connect 3 more LED in parellel to existing threes and make the on-off LED on the edge triggering of each counters D output . .....
