Question
Explanation / Answer
34. Carbon fixation is a process that involves fixing a carbon by the carbon fixation cycle or C3 cycle. The enzyme needs for carbon fixation is ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase (RuBisCO). RuBisCO takes the inorganic CO2 and adds it to the RuBP and later formed two 3-carbon molecules called 3-phosphoglycerate which later on produces sugar or starch.
1. Tow main subunits of PSI and PSII, PsaA and PsaB, are closely related proteins involved in the binding of P700, A0, A1 and Fx. These proteins are integral membrane proteins of 703-750 amino acids and contain 11 transmembrane segments. Answer (D) is the right option.
2. NADH is a coenzyme that contains electrons with a high transfer potential and will release a large amount of energy upon oxidation. SO, the answer is (B) NADH.
3. Addition of molecular oxygen to RuBP produces one 3-PGA and 2-PG. PGA is the normal product of carboxylation. In the cycle, rubisco genrates 6 3-PGA molecules from which five are recycled and one goes to make glucose. So, the numer of total production of 3-PGA is 6. But in the completion of the process only one is left for next steps. So, the right answer is (B)1.
4. NADP is the final electron acceptor in photosynthesis. It allows CO2 to assimilate within the Calvin cycle by means of its reducing power. Oxygen is the final electron acceptor in respiration.
