(a) Let the velocity of the ball after collision is v m/s, By the law of momentum conservation:-
=>m1u1+m2u2 = m1v1 + m2v2
=>0.144 x 28 + 5.25 x 0 = 0.144 x v + 5.25 x 1.17
=>v = - 14.65 m/s {-ve just indicating the direction}
(b) KE(initial) = 1/2m1u1^2 = 1/2 x 0.144 x (28)^2 = 56.45 J

KE(final) = 1/2m1v1^2 + 1/2m2v2^2
=>KE(final) = 1/2 x 0.144 x (14.65)^2 + 1/2 x 5.25 x (1.17)^2
