Question

3. (10 points) wavelength Two electromagnetic waves are traveling at the same speed. The wave wh be i A) has a higher frequency than the other wave B) has a lower frequency than the other wave C) is traveling faster than the other wave D) is traveling slower than the other wave 4. (10 points) A ray in glass arrives at the glass-water interface at an angle of 48 with the normal. The refracted ray, in water, makes a 68° angle with the normal The index of refraction of water is 1.33. In Figure 23.2b, the angle of incidence -133 of a diflerent ray in the glass is 17°. The angle of refraction in the water is closest to: A)53 B) 51 C) 49 D) 55 E) 57 5. (10 points) A fisherman in a stream 30 cm deep looks downward into the water and sees a rock on the stream bed. How deep does the stream appear to the fisherman? Assume that the index of refraction of the water is 1.33. A) 23 cm B) 40 cm C) 26 cm D) 35 em

Explanation / Answer

We know that

wave speed (metre per second) = frequency (hertz) × wavelength (metre)

So,

frequency and wavelength are inversly realted to each other.

AS wave speed is same for both the waves,

So if one wave has higher wave length it has to have lower frequency as they are inversly related as shown ablove.
