Question
ADDITIONAL PROBLEMS: (A) The diagram shows a triangular box within a horizontal electric cm field (6.80 × 104 N/C). Find the electric flux through: the slanted, rectangular surface of the box and the bottom of the box (the side that would be touching the ground) a. b. 10 cm 60° (B) Three point charges are located at the corners of an equilateral triangle as shown in the figure below: A = 1.70 C, B-7.30pC, and C -3.90 0. Find the magnitude and direction of the net electric force on A 0.500 m 60.0° A uC CuC BONUS PROBLEM lectron moving to the right enters the region between two charged capacitor plates. The electron, initially moving at 6.26×106 m/s, is deflected by the electric field. If the distance of deflection, d, is 0.55 cm, find the magnitude of the electric field. (Hint: Treat the electron as a "projectile") 2.25 cmExplanation / Answer
Problem A)
Flux = E.A
a. |A| = 0.3*0.1*/cos(60) = 0.06 m^2
The normal to A makes an angle of 60 deg with horizontal
so E.A = 6.8*10^ 4 * *0.06*cos(60) = 0.204*10^6
b. |A| = 30*10*tan(60) = 0.051m^2
The normal to the surface makes an angle of 90 deg with horizontal
flux = E.A = |E|.|A|cos(90) = 0
