Question
Questions Vertically polarized light with an intensity of 425 W/m2 passes through a polarizer oriented at an angle to the vertical. Find the transmitted intensity of the light for a) 0-15., b) 0 40° , c)0-90"? 1) Applying:/ locoszg 2) Explain why the highest and lowest intensity are located as they are on the zero degree graph and why there is a change of the highest and lowest intensity in the 90 degree graph The reflection of the light off the mirror did follow the law of reflection. Explain the results. 3) ped By Sjon ClintonExplanation / Answer
1) cos2 15 = 0.933, cos2 40 = 0.586, cos2 90 = 0
Substituting these values in the equation we get
I = 425 x 0.933 = 396.525
I = 425 x 0.586 = 249.06
I = 425 x 0= 0
3) The medium might not have been a perfectly reflecting medium. The incident light might have got refracted and the reflected light will not be of the same intensity as the incident light.
