As the loop falls towards the South end of the bar magnet, the flux associated with the loop increases and an induced current flows in the loop to counter the increasing flux(Lenz's law). The direction of the current is Anticlockwise when viewed from the above.
(b)
It repels the falling loop as the loop(due to increasing flux) acts like a south pole when viewd from below to oppose the increasing flux(Lenz's law).
